Extra Curricular Activities

We offer an extensive range of extra-curricular activities which are included in the fees.

These activities reinforce the early years and Montessori curriculum as well as contributing to development of the whole child.

Many studies have shown that the physical development of the child has a direct link to the cognitive abilities of a child. We believe that extra-curriucular activities enhance the abilities of all children.

French

French lessons are included in the fees and are offered to children who are 3 years and above. We have a resident French Teacher, who conducts lessons at the Nursery once a week on Monday mornings.

Drama

In order to develop vital self-confidence and social skills, children need frequent, regular opportunities to work in groups and to express themselves through drama. We offer weekly drama classes whereby children have a chance to develop their communication skills through a variety of ways. Children have an opportunity to show off their drama skills during the annual Christmas concert and Nativity and the summer term school play.

PE

Focusing on a holistic approach to learning, we have hired a specially trained teacher to work on the physical development of each child. Classes for the children include music and movement, games and practising large gross motor skills such as jumping, skipping and hopping. The “whole body” approach to learning integrates the brain, senses, movement and play.

Yoga

Yoga classes are delivered by Meera, a qualified and experienced Yoga Teacher from Tatty Bumpkins. Classes are held on Friday mornings. Yoga classes are included in the fees. The Tatty Bumpkin programme develops flexibility, enhances creativity, aids development and promotes well being by encouraging children to be Bendy, Giggly, Clever and Strong. http://www.tattybumpkin.com/

St Matthew’s Montessori School benefits from all peripatetic sessions being included within the fees, aside from Click IT.  Lemon Tree Montessori School will phase the extra-curricular sessions from the opening date, over the course of the year.
